A few weeks ago, I accepted a position as a software developer via the IBM’s Tech Re-entry Program. I’ll finally be starting in that position in two weeks and I’m so excited to finally say “I’m a software developer!“.
The road was long, but waiting patiently while hustling/working hard pays off. I’m grateful for the people that I’ve met along the way, and I enjoyed the experience of transitioning to a career. Though I think I still have a long way to go, I’d say it is worth it, and everything is possible as long as you put your heart and mind to it (so cliche I know, but it’s true). Everything really depends on you (well, mostly, I’d say). I’m truly grateful for my husband for letting me pursue what I want to do, and being very supportive and patient with me.
I also thank Thuy Nguyen, one of the many wonderful women in tech I’ve met along the way. Without her, I wouldn’t be able to get my resume looked at by IBM. Yes, networking does work, tremendously!
